Statement on SB 1196

CCC Opposes Irresponsible Expansion of Assisted Suicide

The California Catholic Conference announced today that it is vehemently opposed to SB 1196, the proposed bill that would expand the definitions for eligibility and eliminate residency requirements for those seeking suicide options from their physicians.

Nationwide Invitation to Prayer

Prayer for the end of abortion and for the protection of women and pre-born children

The USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities is inviting Catholics to join a focused effort of prayer for the end of abortion and the protection of women and preborn children, beginning on March 25, the eve of the oral arguments, and the anniversary of St. John Paul II’s landmark, pro-life encyclical, The Gospel of Life (Evangelium vitae).

Radiate Love

Celebrating Marriage and Family

Under the title “Radiate Love,” every Catholic community is invited to participate in this initiative, starting on World Marriage Day – February 11, 2024 – when God calls couples all over the globe to invest in their relationships and let that love radiate out to their family and to the world.

Legislative Priorities

The California Catholic Conference (CCC) is the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in California. We advocate with policy makers and the public to advance the Catholic vision of human life and dignity, to enhance the honorable and good in society, and to uplift those who are poor and vulnerable. We offer education to Catholics and the general public. We empower Catholics to put their faith into action consistent with Catholic teaching.
