Family and colleagues have delivered the sad news that Cassandra Hockenson, public information officer for the CA Medical Board, passed away yesterday after suffering a stroke. She was 61. Hockenson had worked at the Medical Board for the past four years. She has also previously worked as a public information officer for the Dept. of Corrections and Caltrans. Before working for the State, Hockenson worked for KOVR-CBS13 where she produced investigative consumer reports for the station’s “Call Kurtis” segments. Before that, she was a producer at KCRA-TV working on its consumer advocacy program, “Call 3.” A Sacramento native, Hockenson earned a law degree from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento and also worked as a public defender. She leaves behind her husband of nearly 30 years, Alan, her three children, Sean, Lauren and Kristi, and her two stepchildren, Alyssa and Alexander.
