The California State Library has announced that it will celebrate National Library Week with various exhibits and events through Thursday promoting “how libraries transform lives and communities.” The library is currently displaying special exhibits in the Stanley Mosk Library and Courts Building, 914 Capitol Mall, and in the Library Annex Building at 900 N St. in the California History Room. On Wednesday at 11 a.m., State Library staff will host a table on the West Lawn with posters and informational items about libraries and discuss their function as “modern community centers,” noting that they are “more than quiet places to study and check out books,” pointing out that they provide “internet access for low-income families and job training and resume writing workshops for the unemployed.” On Thursday, the library will sponsor a Collective Goods Book Fair at 900 N St. from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Contact: Deborah Lynch 916 651 6452.
