The office of Pro Tem Toni Atkins reports hiring Lizelda Lopez as communications director. Lopez was deputy director of communications and public relations for Covered California. Before that she was a senior vice president for Ogilvy Public Relations and before that she held two governor-appointed positions in the Schwarzenegger administration: ethnic media lead for the California Health and Human Services Agency and communications director for the Dept. of Social Services. Lopez started her new job Monday and succeeded Anthony Reyes, who was communications director for former Pro Tem Kevin de León and now works for Edelman Public Affairs.
