Treasurer John Chiang has named Dante Allen as the new executive director of the California Achieving a Better Life Experience program (CalABLE), which allows people with disabilities to build up their savings without losing eligibility for government assistance. Allen, who started Monday, was most recently senior communications officer for the CA Dept. of Public Health’s Office of Health Equity. Before that, he was a communications director for health plan and hospital operations at Kaiser Permamente. Allen replaces Christina Elliott, who accepted a job in September at CalSTRS.
